Do you like living in the fast lane? Whether you do or don’t, it’s a pretty stress-filled world … and it is a major reason why you are possibly failing to get pregnant.
Let’s consider how you can avoid Stress and Infertility and …
Relax Your Way To Pregnancy
We live in a stress-filled world, faced with daily demands on our time, our finances, our relationships, both at work and at home.
Managing and living with stress is vital when trying to conceive as too much stress can cause irregular ovulation or even stop your periods. In addition to eating a healthy diet, exercise regularly and get at least eight hours of sleep a night.
Indulge In Some ‘ME!’ Time To De-stress
You know yourself best and your interests. If you’re not doing so already, try yoga, exercise, journaling, or meditation – whatever you prefer. All can help you live with stress and improve your fertility.
Something as simple as walking once or twice a day has multiple benefits. It helps you:
- slow down and walk away the stress of the day
- maintain a healthy weight in your attempts to get pregnant
- keep up your strength for when you are pregnant and ready to deliver
Just be kind to yourself. After all, the pregnancy game- especially if you are already having trouble to conceive – is pretty stressful in itself.
It’s a similar story for men. Sperm production is driven by the hormone testosterone. Stress can lower testosterone production, which in turn impacts on sperm quality and quantity.
Establish A Healthy Routine
Eat Right. As covered in the Fertility and Diet Article Archives, a healthy diet that cuts out the ‘bad foods’ and includes the ‘good foods’ for improved fertility, is fundamental to your success. Refer back to those articles for pointers.
Sleep Right. Try to go to bed at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning. Attempt to get a full eight hours each night. Make your bed an oasis of calm, a place of rest. Don’t allow it to be a ‘busy’ place … for eating, reading, watching TV, whatever …
Exercise Right. Try working out at least every other day on a regular basis. Just 30 minutes of aerobic activity four times a week can help keep you in shape and make you feel better all the time. Create opportunities where walking becomes a natural part of your daily routine.
Schedule Right. We all have obligations we cannot avoid, but try to re-schedule events and happenings in your life that are taxing to the week following your period. This reduces your stress level and decreases your overall suffering.
